Reconstructing the Geocentric System of Proto Oceanic
نویسنده
چکیده
S Su um mm ma ar ry y The comparison of sixteen Austronesian languages, regarding the absolute coordinates they use in space reference, makes it possible to propose a historical hypothesis regarding the geocentric system of Proto Oceanic: on land, one up-down axis defined by the declivity of the ground; at sea, a second up-down axis motivated by the prevailing trade winds. After reconstructing the system of POc, we model the principal paths of evolution which historically derived from it and led to the diverse systems attested in modern Oceanic languages.

Role of supra-subduction zone ophiolites in the tectonic evolution of the southeastern Zagros Orogenic Belt, Iran
Ophiolitic rocks in the southeastern part of the Zagros Orogenic Belt can be separated from southwest to northeast, into two groups: the Neyriz ophiolites and the Naien–Shahrebabak–Baft ophiolites. The southeast sector of Sanandaj-Sirjan wasdelimited by the two nearly synchronous ophiolitic belts in its southwestern and northeastern margins. In this study, new ophiolitic formation models were u...
متن کاملTransforming Geocentric Cartesian Coordinates to Geodetic Coordinates by a New Initial Value Calculation Paradigm
Transforming geocentric Cartesian coordinates (X, Y, Z) to geodetic curvilinear coordinates (φ, λ, h) on a biaxial ellipsoid is one of the problems used in satellite positioning, coordinates conversion between reference systems, astronomy and geodetic calculations. For this purpose, various methods including Closed-form, Vector method and Fixed-point method have been developed. In this paper, a...
متن کاملNew Evidence of the Emergence of Complex Societies Discovered on the Central Iranian Plateau
The archaeological mound of Sofalin south of the Alborz Mountains of Northern Iran (Eastern Rey plain) sheds considerablelight on at least four problems connected with the emergence of complex societies in this part of Iran. The first, it helpsfill a chronological gap in an important archaeological sequence by revealing a previously unidentified late fourth andthird millennium B.C. sequence of ...

The Band-e-Hezarchah granitoids mainly include alkali granite and granite. that intruded in Late Neoproterozoic metamorphic rocks. Orthoclase, microcline, plagioclase, quartz and biotite are the main rock-forming minerals. Plagioclase is mostly albite and oligoclase with Si = 2.57-2.7 a.p.f.u. and An0.4–12.6. Biotite is mostly siderophyllite, with Si = 4.30-6.22 a.p.f.u. and XMg= 0.025 - 0.859....
متن کاملLapita and Proto-Oceanic
Linguistics and archaeology have been, and continue to be, entwined in the discourse on the early human history of the Pacific. It is commonly assumed, explicitly or otherwise, that the bearers of the Lapita culture were speakers of Proto-Oceanic, the ancestor of the Austronesian languages of most of the Pacific. In this discursive piece, the chronological data for the location and timing of th...
